While some students want to run home a soon as the last bell rings, after school symposiums are making more kids eager to stay longer and keep learning. More schools around the country are introducing enriching after school activities with opportunities to participate in things like LEGO construction, robotics, calligraphy, and dance.
Instead of hammering information and drilling exercises, children get to have fun without realizing that they are also working out their brains and bodies. After school symposiums also have the added benefit of fostering socialization and friendships between children.
Additionally, after school programs like these have been shown to reduce risky behavior in children and teens and improve classroom conduct. Does your school system offer these programs? If not, consider advocating for them to start!
